Everybody can save a life!

For many blood cancer patients, a stem cell donation is their only chance of survival. However, the probability that the tissue characteristics (HLA characteristics) of two strangers will be a match currently ranges from one in 20,000 to well over one in several million. Because only 30 percent of patients find a matching donor within their family, the other 70 percent rely on unrelated donors.

What is the DKMS donor center?

DKMS Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei (DKMS German Bone Marrow Donor Center) was founded in Germany in 1991 because of the fate of Mechtild Harf, who was suffering from leukemia and needed a stem cell transplantation. Since then, DKMS has grown to become the world’s largest network of bone marrow donor centers with over 3.6 million registered bone marrow donors worldwide, giving 14 patients each day a second chance at life.
The DKMS family aims to find a suitable donor for every patient in need by increasing its pool of registered potential stem cell donors at its locations in Germany, Poland (DKMS Polska), Spain (Fundación DKMS España), UK (Delete Blood Cancer UK), USA (Delete Blood Cancer) and worldwide.

Monetary donations are essential in building up the database, as the cost of registering each new potential donor is 50 Euros.

Our vision is simple: Delete Blood Cancer! Please take this opportunity to join us in our fight!
